A little company history

Did you know that Spectrum has a proud history dating back to the 1940’s?
Spectrum Floors’ origins can be traced back to H. Wasson & Company, a contracting business also importing cork tiles. One of the early imports met with misadventure when the ship carrying the tiles was sunk by a German U-boat during WW2.
The business began trading as Spectrum Floors in 1976. Over the years the business has grown and adapted to meet the changing market. In 1977 Spectrum commenced distributing European quality commercial contract flooring. Looking to diversify, the business started manufacturing Nuway Mats in 1982.
In 1986 Spectrum opened its first dedicated manufacturing facility in a converted Californian Bungalow, with the addition of a backyard warehouse. Although Spectrum have since moved to their current Tonsley facility, the original warehouse still stands and is now part of the Vili’s Pies facility at Mile End.
In recent years Spectrum have expanded their locally manufactured entrance matting range with innovative products to cater for all project budgets. Spectrum have also expanded their range of quality European sourced flooring solutions and in 2019 supplied the exterior running track for the AIS at the Bruce Stadium.
