National Museum of Australia launches two new galleries — Great Southern Land and children’s Discovery Centre – and chooses Spectrum Lava flooring
Based in the Nation’s capital and a favourite for school excursions, the National Museum of Australia hosted over a million visitors to exhibits through the last year. In it’s first major refurbishment in the 20 years since opening, nearly a third of the Museum space has now re-opened to the public as two new galleries.
Choosing the flooring for such a major public space requires a balance between durability, safety, acoustic qualities, environment certifications and an aesthetic that complements the space.
Spectrum Lava was chosen as the floor covering that best met those exacting criteria. Lava is an uncoated, embossed rubber surface that creates a stone-like effect. The flooring is GECA certified with an R10 slip rating and is available in 6 colours inspired by nature.
